Bishop Who Once Called Raila Devil KICKED OUT Of University
A renowned bishop has been kicked out of a local university after his academic papers were found to have been fake.
Bishop David Kariuki Ngare famously known as Gakuyo who is also seeking the Kiambu gubernatorial seat on a Jubilee party ticket also failed to present his form four certificate forcing Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology(JKUAT) to de-register him.
Kariuki who is known for his Gakuyo Real Estate company which sells land in Kiambu County and other areas made headlines on Monday, November 5, 2016 when he compared Opposition leader Raila Odinga to the devil.
A story aired on NTV indicated that the bishop appeared to have forged his Primary school certificate and that he did not attend high school yet he was admitted to a university for a degree course.
Investigations showed that he has a Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) certificate allegedly acquired in 1983 from Munyu Primary school in Nyeri county but whose index number does not belong to that school.
His name is also not among candidates who sat the exam in 1983 in the school..
Kariuki also got his primary school leaving certificate 21 years after he left the school which raised eye brows.
The 49-year old had applied for a degree course at the JKUAT's Westlands campus to study County Governance.
In his application for the degree, he also claimed to have attended International School of Christ between 2000-2001 and later in 2016, claimed he acquired an honorary degree from Cambridge Theological Seminary. He did not mention that he attended high school.
After admission, he performed well and got 'As' and 'Bs' grades in various units in his first semester.
But the university wrote to him after four months of his first semester for a "friendly discussion" on December 1, 2016.
The Bishop was later on January 12, 2017 de-registered for failing to present his form four certificate.
