Uhuru Kenyatta's Bodyguard Arrested
Officers drawn from the Flying Squad police unit on Saturday, February 26 arrested a theft suspect serving in the presidential escort together with Baracuda Airways CEO in the nick of time.
CEO John Majiwa was heading to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport when the officers who had been trailing him for a while intercepted.
Majiwa was arrested alongside Stella Amaya (Uhuru's bodyguard) and two other accomplices a male suspect and a woman identified as Elizabeth Wanjiru.
The Star reports that Majiwa had defrauded about 40 investors of Sh200 million telling them that Deputy President William Ruto and Mama Ngina Kenyatta had stakes in the company.
It is reported that Majiwa had recruited 6 pilots and 30 flight attendants promising to take them to Canada and Dubai for training.
All recruits were parting away with money, some millions so they could secure a place in the company which has turned out to be a scam.
"I launched my own investigations and realized that the Baracuda Airways was a scam, it was previously branded as Baracuda holdings before the name was changed," a victim told the daily.
After more than a dozen victims reported the matter to the police, Baracuda Airways was established to be a non existent company with no single plane bearing the brand name .
The company, however, has a working website with images of helicopters and other planes branded, 'Baracuda'.
The four suspects are expected to be arraigned in court on Monday, February 27.
